Adult Support Services – The Lotus Service

The Lotus Service supports adult men and women across Leicester City, Leicestershire and Rutland. The aim of this service is to give practical and emotional support to people who:
- are in an abusive relationship and want help to leave safely, or
- have already left a relationship and would like support to deal with the aftermath
As well as a listening ear, the Lotus Service can provide information and support on a wide range of topics, including housing, benefits and legal issues amongst others. If more specialist support is required on these issues, the team will find the appropriate agency to provide this, and assist clients to access these.
We provide a clinic with free legal advice appointments.
We can also provide practical support such as improving security at the client’s home, or finding a new, safe place for them to live.
The Lotus team are there to support clients to regain confidence and control. We can accompany clients on appointments to solicitors, the council, doctors etc…, and when requested, the Worker can speak on the clients behalf, but at the same time, support and encouragement is given so that clients can be as active as possible in taking control of their own situation.
The team can also support clients through the court process, with both civil and criminal proceedings.
The Lotus Service is able to give aftercare and resettlement support when a client has been re-housed after they have fled the abuser or following a stay in refuge. This can include support to settle into a new area and community, help to place children into appropriate schools, registering at a doctors, etc…
Visits can be arranged at the client’s house in situations where it is safe to do so; otherwise, support can be given online, at our offices or other suitable locations in the community. The team usually work between 9.00am – 5.00pm, Monday – Friday, and there is a confidential answerphone available when they are out of the office.
